Sylvie,

Thanks for putting this blog together. The more info out there about breast cancer the better. This is a subject that I feel very passionately about as I face it everyday.

Please also take a moment to consider posting something about breast reconstruction surgery.

Unfortunately many women are made to feel that reconstruction is an "after thought"... a cosmetic procedure for the vain. This could not be further from the truth. Breast reconstruction is not a cosmetic procedure... it is every woman's right.

Best wishes to you and please keep posting!

What??? 100 USD for the mammogram??? It should be for free! Or here it is for free. But why would anybody take 100 for a procedure which takes less then 5 minutes???
My mums mother had cancer, but they cured her. But when my fathers mum had cancer, she went to the doctor too late and she died... I wish she would go to the doctor sooner...
I go to the gynaecologist every year and because I'm just 21, he sends me on the mammogram once in two years. But from the time I go there, I take there every year my mum with me and she goes on the mammogram every year and I'm proud of her because of that.

I was 37 when I was diagnosed the first time. Lumpectomy and radiation, good to go.

Three years later, a suspicious thread of calcification on my mammogram. "Probably just scar tissue," the doctor said. I wanted it biopsied anyway. He agreed.

The thread WAS just some calcification in the scar tissue. But the biopsy found the most deadly, reapidly spreading form of breast cancer in the appearingly healthy tissue around the thread.

Caught it before it had a chance to put down roots. Mastectomy two weeks later. Clear lymph nodes, no chemo needed.

I'm cancer free for 8 years now! I have personally "convinced" (in some cases, dragged) 15 other women to have mammograms.

In those 15, we found 3 benign tumors. 3 with fibroids that need to be watched. 2 with breast cancer, that have survived because it was caught early.

Drag the people you love. They will thank you in the end.

Hmmm...that reminds me that I need to call my daughter. I think it's time for her next checkup. :)

Hi there,

thanks for raising awareness. This is such a wonderful story to tell and surely inspring to many.

Just one thing about the video... am I the only one who thinks the music is a miss-match?

Hope you will help to save many,
Michelle

You go girl! I was 39 when I was diagnosed. Fortunately, my doctor's attitude was different, and we took care of it immediately. I'm proud to say I'm a 13 year survivor! Please also urge all women to act immediately if they suspect--to never delay.

A long life to you Sylvia,
